BLACK PEARL ZI SHEN YU TAI WAN DANG GUI & EPIMEDIUM – BP085
This is a modern empirical formula that has been developed to promote fertility in women with Kidney Yang-Essence deficiency together with Blood deficiency. This pathodynamic generally leads to Blood stasis (primarily in the lower Jiao) due to the congealing action of Cold (due to Yang deficiency in the lower Jiao) on the Blood, which is already in a deficient state.
Thus the Chong and Ren channels are deprived of nourishment leading to impairment of female reproductive function. It should be noted that this is one of several ways in which fertility may become compromised, and therefore a precise clinical differential diagnosis is a prerequisite for the appropriate clinical usage of this particular formulation.
The economy of ingredients permits a precise clinical focus that may be broadened or augmented by using it in combination with other formulas as described above.
