Main Actions Although Pomegranate’s wide-ranging therapeutic benefits may be attributable to several mechanisms, most research has focused on its antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Pomegranate extract has been shown to inhibit serum angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE; a catalyst for the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor) thereby reducing systolic blood pressure.
