BLACK PEARL BP052 ZHI YIN GAN LU YIN REHMANNIA & ASPARAGUS
Nourishes the Yin and regenerates the Body Fluids, clears Heat and reduces Fire, regulates the Qi.

INDICATIONS:
Mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers), sore throat, pharyngitis, sore gums, gingivitis, chronic tonsillitis, cataracts, pterygium, episcleritis, keratitis, chronic conjunctivitis, chronic dry eyes, chronic dry mouth and throat, chronic dry skin, Sjögren’s syndrome.

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS:
Dryness signs: e.g. dry eyes, mouth, throat, nose and skin Oral ulceration, Inflammation and pain of the gums, Sore throat that may also be swollen, Dry cough, Malar or facial flush, Night sweating, Tidal fever or low grade fever, or subjective feeling of heat, Dry tongue that may also be red with a thin, scanty coat that may be yellow, Thready pulse that may also be wiry and rapid.

ACTIONS OF THE MAIN HERBS:
Rehmannia root (unprocessed) is used orally in formulas to treat febrile illness, anaemia, abnormal bleeding and lack of body fluids. It has been shown to have the following actions: cardiotonic, diuretic, hypoglycaemic, hepatoprotective, antifungal, shortens blood coagulation time. Scrophularia root is used orally in formulas to treat febrile illnesses, lung infections, diabetes, sore throat, diphtheria, pharyngitis, lymphadenitis and gangrenous lesions of the extremities. It has been shown to have the following actions: hypotensive, vasodilator, antibacterial, hypoglycaemic, anti-inflammatory, sedative, antipyretic.

DOSAGE & COURSE OF TREATMENT:
8 – 12 pills, 3 times daily, half to one hour away from food. In severe cases and in the early stages of treatment (first 2 – 3 weeks) the dosage may be increased by 50 – 100%. Course of treatment: 1 to 6 months.

– Artemisia frigida, herb 茵陳蒿 35.4 mg
– Scutellaria baicalensis, root 黃芩 35.4 mg
– Lilium brownii, bulb 百合 29.5 mg
– Citrus aurantium, fruit 枳殼 29.5 mg
– Glycyrrhiza uralensis, root 甘草 14.8 mg

CAUTIONS & CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Caution for those on anti-coagulant medications (i.e. Heparin, warfarin or aspirin).
