INDICATIONS:
Acute gastroenteritis, acute or chronic nephritis, Meniere’s disease, ascites, congestive heart failure.
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS:
Oedema or fluid retention, Oliguria, Sensation of bodily heaviness, Poor appetite, Fatigue, Pallor, Loose stools or diarrhoea, Tongue has a white and slippery coat, Pulse is slippery and floating or weak and floating or weak, slow and deep and may also be rapid.
ACTIONS OF THE MAIN HERBS:
Poria cocos is used orally in formulas to treat urinary difficulty, diarrhoea, water retention, excessive mucus production, headache, dizziness, palpitations, insomnia, forgetfulness and loss of appetite. It has been shown to have the following actions: diuretic, hypoglycaemic, tranquilization, bacteriostatic, smooth muscle relaxant, enhances the immune system. Polyporus umbellatus is used orally in formulas to treat oedema, difficult urination, painful urination, acute inflammation of the urethra, leukorrhea and diarrhoea. It has been shown to have diuretic, anti-tumor and immune system enhancing actions.
DOSAGE & COURSE OF TREATMENT:
8 – 12 pills, 3 times daily, half to one hour away from food. In severe cases and in the early stages of treatment (first 1 – 2 weeks) the dosage may be increased by 50 – 100%. Course of treatment: 1 to 3 months.

CAUTIONS & CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Caution with patients on: diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), cardiotonic glycosides, antiarrhythmic drugs, laxatives.
