CHINAMED CLEAR THE LIVER QING GAN QU ZHI FANG

This is an empirical formula that has been developed to treat fatty liver. Fatty liver disease is the most common cause for abnormal results in a liver function test and is strongly associated with the ongoing obesity epidemic in western countries. Fatty change in the liver results from excessive accumulation of lipids within the liver cells. Simple fatty liver is believed to be benign, but if there is also hepatic inflammation it can progress to cirrhosis and can be associated with liver cancer. The main risk factors for fatty liver are obesity, diabetes, high triglyceride levels, or a high fat diet. In addition fatty liver may be caused by the regular ingestion of alcohol � as little as 10 oz of alcohol ingested per week.

Patients should be advised to severely limit alcohol consumption and to loose weight in order to derive the maximum benefits from taking this formula.

Dosage & Course of Treatment
– 3 – 4 capsules, 2 – 3 daily.
– In severe cases and in the early stages of treatment (first 1 – 2 weeks) the dosage may be increased by 50%.

Cautions & Contraindications
– Avoid coffee, deep fried foods, fatty food, alcohol.
– Caution for those on anti-coagulant medications (i.e. Heparin, warfarin or aspirin).
– Caution with patients on: diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), cardiotonic glycosides, antiarrhythmic drugs, laxatives.
– Contains Glycyrrhiza, which potentiates prednisone and corticosteroids by prolonging steroid biological half-life; caution in patients with hypertension
