N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a sulfur containing amino acid that helps normalise compromised glutamatergic neurotransmission. It is a precursor for cysteine- a building block and rate-limiting step in glutathione (GSH) formation. NAC shows a high degree of promise in preconception care, endometriosis, mental health, detoxification and as a bio-film disruptor.
