Model Miranda Kerr tells why she believes the blood type diet is best for her.
She has been blessed with more than her fair share of good looks, but Australian model Miranda Kerr says following the blood-type diet is the key to maintaining her lean, healthy physique.
Before Kerr captured the attention of the modelling world, the Gunnedah, NSW-born beauty had her sights set on a career in nutrition. She had even enrolled at the Academy of Natural Living in Queensland to study nutrition and health psychology.
The 26-year-old started following the blood-type eating plan six years ago after her naturopath gave her the book, Eat Right 4 Your Type (Putnam) by Peter D’Adamo. “It made a lot of sense to me so I started following the recommended eating plan and I just found I had so much more energy than I’d ever had; I was feeling really great,” she says.
According to naturopathic physician D’Adamo, the diet is based on the premise that certain foods are more compatible with particular blood types.
The diet’s celebrity followers include Demi Moore, Elizabeth Hurley and Courteney Cox Arquette.
People with type-O blood, which D’Adamo claims is the earliest human blood group, are said to benefit from a diet similar to the first humans, who ate a protein-rich diet, while type-B adults should stay away from wheat and chicken. The diet recommends AB blood types should eat small meals frequently and be aware of combining their food correctly.
Kerr, who has type-A blood, follows the book’s recommended vegetarian-based diet, which is high in organic vegetables, fresh juices and legumes. Despite her hectic schedule, which involves regular air travel and long days, the Victoria’s Secret model says her diet and exercise regime is easy to follow and says she carries healthy snacks wherever she goes.
“Some of my favourite snacks are organic almonds and blueberries, half an avocado with sea salt, and I also love eating Fuji apple pieces with almond butter and agave – it feels like a treat but it’s really good for you,” she says.
Kerr, a Nichiren Buddhist (a Japanese school of Buddhism), who meditates and practises yoga regularly, says low-impact, calming exercise is also recommended for people with an A blood type.
“I practise yoga daily; I do half an hour in the morning plus half an hour of meditation,” she says. “Dedication is key for me because with my constant travel schedule I find it very grounding and energising.”
The blood-type diet is viewed with scepticism by the medical fraternity. “There is no scientific link between your blood type and what you should be eating,” says Sharon Natoli, dietitian and director of Food & Nutrition Australia. Natoli says the diet is not recommended as a long-term eating plan as entire food groups are missing from some of its blood-group meal plans.
Tara Diversi, spokesperson for the Dietitians Association of Australia, says people with Kerr’s blood type who are following the vegetarian-based A-type diet need to ensure they are eating plenty of protein- and calcium-rich foods, as well as legumes and grains, which are high in amino acids.
While Kerr follows the diet closely, the David Jones model says she occasionally indulges. Her weaknesses include dark chocolate Lindt balls and her nana’s steak pie. “I believe in a balanced life – it’s not about depriving yourself – so I eat 80 per cent organic, nutrient-rich foods and 20 per cent indulgence foods,” she says.
Another important part of Kerr’s diet is noni juice, which she says helps her combat everything from pimples to jetlag. “Whenever I’ve been sunburnt or had a pimple I’d soak a cotton ball in it and place it on my skin and it would be really soothing,” she says.
Kerr is such an advocate of the juice that it has become a core component of her new skincare range, Kora. Kerr has worked on the range, which has been produced in Australia, for the past three-and-a-half years. “Noni juice is scientifically proven to heal on a cellular level and it’s also beneficial for skin health,” she says. “It just made sense to have it as a key ingredient in my products.”

Pain affects most of us at some point in our lives whether it be a simple headache, back pain or related to a chronic health condition. It is often a signal and an outward expression of an underlying health condition. Most pain is related to an inflammatory process happening in the body, whether it be from an acute injury or chronic degenerative process from disease.
It is important to understand that some kinds of pain or inflammation is a sign of an acute response by the body to mend or heal a tissue. Therefore inflammation means healing especially in acute situations.
Modern day medicine has strong medications that can help with the management people’s pain, including, Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatories and Cortisone however often compromising the health of other organs or tissues. The reason is that these forms of medication in their attempt to stop pain, block the inflammatory process (responsible for healing) therefore blocking the natural healing mechanism of the body often leading to chronic pain that deteriorates.
For successful treatment of pain one must first understand the origin of the pain and eliminate it. For example a subluxation of a vertebra pression on a Nerve by re-aligning the vertebrae the origin is addressed. Then it is important to understand why it is presenting in a particular part of the body, is it referred from another site? or is it a local pain as a result of a tissue injury? Once this is clearly understood a treatment must be directed to the origin and location of the pain.
Treatments must be directed at the symptoms of pain, equally encouraging moderate inflammation to ensure the healing mechanism of the body is not blocked.
Natural Treatment that are proven effective for Pain include: Acupuncture, Biomesotherapy (injection therapy), Massage Therapy, Cupping therapy, Spinal Therapy and Natural anti inflammatories medications.
Here at the clinic we use an integrative approach to managing your pain using the latest technology and proven traditional methods.

Acupuncture is a natural healing art that stimulates the flow of Qi or Energy throughout the body so as to stabilize and rejuvenate the body mind and spirit and restore health. It is also very relaxing.
Acupuncture is part of an integrated system of primary health care, known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has an uninterrupted history of development dating back thousands of years in China and other parts of East Asia.
Today, acupuncture is an effective, natural and popular form of health care that is being used by people from all over the world..
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points along the body’s meridians to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of qi through the individual. The practitioner may also stimulate the acupuncture points using other methods, including moxibustion, cupping, laser therapy, electro-stimulation and massage, in order to re-establish the flow of qi.

Naturopathic manual therapy or Naturopathic Physical Medicine is the practice of remedial therapy in the context and philosophy of naturopathic medicine performed by a naturopath. It integrates both the scientific knowledge such as the Anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, and overall musculoskeletal structure and the holistic principles of naturopathic medicine.
Naturopathic medicine clinicians understand that when a body is dysfunctional or diseased on a structural or physical level, that there is also a link to the internal function and health of the person. Therefore when a patient is assessed, an holistic diagnosis is made with consideration of the relationships of all the body systems not just the physical structure.
The type of modalities and techniques employed by each practitioner may vary however in Australia it usually encompasses a combination of the following:
In contrast to the other major professions using physical medicine, the theory of NMT is to identify the individuals maladaptive responses, sub optimal system and organ function caused by reduced vitality leading to chronic and acute disease and toxicity.
The aim of therapy is to strengthen vitality by addressing the underlying cause and to stimulate self healing mechanisms via the use of nutrition, herbal and homeopathic medicines, lifestyle and holistic physical therapies.

A person’s blood type is a genetically determined, scientific marker which individualizes us from one another. The blood type diet is a system based on utilizing specific foods and nutrients for particular people / blood types in order to enhance or improve one’s overall health status. Correct eating and eating right for your own personal needs is a crucial element for achieving optimum health. However, in today’s fast paced society achieving optimum health can be a rather difficult task. The blood type diet on the other hand is an easy to follow system for anyone wanting to eat more specifically for their own individual needs. It is a system that enables the individual to build their awareness of foods and how they affect us positively and negatively.

Human Individuality and Blood Type an Integrative Approach
Well the fact of the matter is that we as human beings have lost touch with ourselves. We rely too heavily on the media and products advertising to understand what is good for us, we are told eat this cereal it gives you this, eat this muesli bar it gives you that. We are also told by Doctors generally to follow certain diets for particular health problems, for instance heart disease patients are told to cut out saturated fats and reduce cholesterol from their diets.
These recommendations are all ok however we need to get more specific in order to increase the propensity to heal.
You body is so highly sophisticated that it tells you what it needs. Most people who stumble across the blood type diet resonate with it because it makes sense. It resonates with our humanly instincts which tell us what is good for us. This helps patients get back to themselves, which is usually the reason they got sick in the first place.
Animals for instance when they are looking for food often smell to see what is good for them before they consume. They know what to eat when they are sick also. Just like other animals, human beings are designed to smell and or sense whether a food can help or hinder our health.
Numerous people on a daily basis are realizing that what is good for goose is not always good for the gander. The reason for this is we are all individual we all have different needs and they need to be honoured.
Here are just a few of the things that make us unique:
One only Heals when sense of self is recognized J Mallia Dr.Sc 1999
In order for people to get back to optimum health they must listen to what feels best for themselves as individuals and getting Blood type specific is a great place to start.
As mentioned the blood type is a genetically determined marker that gives us one level of individuality that we can work with to enhance our health. Often many people find they are doing the right thing most of the time and that the blood type diet merely helps them fine tune and get back to themselves further.
However other people are not eating blood type specific and have lost sense of themselves to some degree often resulting in poor immunity and frequent chronic issues.
In terms of disease management getting individually specific is crucial for the best prognosis, not only are humans all different, but the way we express our diseases and fight it is also different.
Therefore should we treat all disease and people the same?
The answer is No, the Great Physician Hippocrates was quoted saying:
It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has.” – Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.)

NaturalNews) Green tea has always been cited to improve a number of health benefits through its consumption. A recent study targeted LDL, or “bad” cholesterol and brought forth evidence that green tea reduces those levels. The question of how much and whether or not green tea should serve as a medical alternative remains to be seen; however, the overall benefits of green tea are difficult to ignore.
The study separated participants in two random groups: the first group who drank green tea and consumed green tea extract, and the second group that did not consume green tea. This study was staged for a period of time ranging from a few weeks up to three months, and the results showed that the former group who consumed high amounts of green tea had reduced levels of “bad” cholesterol. In fact, the participants who consumed green tea had a, on average, 7.2 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) reduction in total cholesterol levels compared to the participants who did not consume green tea. These participants also had their “bad” cholesterol levels dropped by 2.2 mg/dL.
Another study done by researchers at Western University of Health Sciences dissected the correlation between green tea and serum lipid levels, as well as low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. Over the course of three to 24 weeks, researches conducted 20 trials that resulted in lower LDL cholesterol levels. Specifically, the participants showed a five to six point reduction in their levels.
Why does green tea lower LDL cholesterol
Green tea contains catechin polyphenols, specifically epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a very powerful antioxidant that has been known to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, effectively lower LDL cholesterol levels, and also inhibit abnormal formation of blood clots.
The particular reason green tea is always cited as a superior health choice when it comes to tea, is its minimal processing. Green tea leaves are withered and steamed rather than fermented like black and oolong teas. This is what prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized, resulting in its catechins and EGCG to be more concentrated.
Although green tea is not being “prescribed” for lowering LDL cholesterol levels, the evidence is clear that it can help with lowering the “bad” cholesterol levels. When consumed regularly, green tea contributes to an overall healthier lifestyle and even to the prevention of heart disease.

There are many factors as to why people are unwell today and they range from physical, emotional mental and spiritual stresses. Here are just a few reasons people are unwell : being overworked, poor environment, family issues, Sick Building syndrome, Electromagnetic radiation stresses, relationship issues, poor diet and lifestyle, drug and alcohol over use, travel toxicity, over use of prescription drugs. And the the list goes on and on.
One of the best screening devices I invested in some time ago( a biofeedback screening tool) tests over 7000 potential stressors on the human biofield. This helps me understand what is stressing a person and what is the underlying problem in a person dis-ease. For example a patient of mine was once diagnosed with late stage kidney disease of which he was recommended Dialysis. After some investigation we found that his multiple prescription drugs and Dental amalgam fillings were causing toxicity in his system therefore stressing his kidneys causing them to become diseased. As a result we asked his Doc to reduce his meds and we replaced them with natural meds , we recommended he see a dentist and pull out his fillings replacing them with non toxic ones ,we detoxified him and had him removed off the dialysis list within months! Just an example of how when you get to the underlying cause and remove the stress in the body, the body is able to heal itself. Makes Sense right !!!???

Cliff Richard celebrated his 70th birthday last month but has a physique men 30 years younger would be proud of, is still rockin’ and rollin’ at his own concerts and plays tennis regularly.
The singer follows a diet based entirely on his blood type, and has high praise for the Eat Right 4 Your Type diet, written by American natural therapist Dr Peter D’Adamo.
D’Adamo’s book on the diet features lists of foods that are either highly beneficial, neutral or should be avoided by each particular blood group type.
Those who follow the diet and lifestyle choices recommended in the book, he says, will be healthier, easily reach their ideal weight, and will slow the ageing process.
“Your blood type influences every area of your physiology on a cellular level,” he explains.
“It has everything to do with how you digest your food, your ability to respond to stress, your mental state, the efficiency of your metabolism, and the strength of your immune system.”
Richards, who is blood type A, has cut out foods including dairy, meat and wheat, in what he calls a healthy eating plan, rather than a diet.
“I can eat more now than I’ve ever eaten and I still can’t put on a pound. I do miss a good Indian curry, but if you are going to try to enhance your diet, it will mean giving up something you love to eat,”
Richards says.
“Good eating is not the only way to stay fit but you can help your body by feeding it the right food.”
D’Adamo explains that when we eat, a chemical reaction occurs between our blood and the food, which is why he believes some foods may be harmful to the cells of one blood type and beneficial to the cells of another.
Foods contain proteins called lectins and D’Adamo says our blood type is genetically programmed to accept or reject certain lectins.
He says that when food containing lectins that are incompatible with your blood type are eaten, the lectins target an organ or bodily system and clump cells there.
This clumping (agglutination) can interfere with digestion, metabolism and the immune system.
He claims this process has been directly linked to problems including arthritis, colitis, high cholesterol, anaemia, high blood pressure, stress, weight gain/loss, depression, diabetes and food cravings.
The book suggests that sticking to the diet around 70 per cent of the time should be enough for most people.
“Unless your health is very bad and every minute counts, you probably don’t need to be 100 per cent compliant all the time.”
D’Adamo says that in a self-reported study of 6617 people who followed the diet for at least a month, three out of four people (71-78 per cent) reported an improvement in their health conditions.
Weight loss was the effect most often observed, he says, but a number of reports detailed improvements in digestive function, resistance to stress, overall energy and mental clarity.
D’Adamo points out that the percentages reporting positive results were consistent across all the blood types, and stresses: “The results certainly appear to question many of the standardised ‘one size fits all’ diets.
“Genetic testing and personalised diets are now quite popular and perhaps nutrition science is catching up with The Blood Type Diet.”
But if the Eat Right 4 Your Type diet, which was first published in the USA in 1997, has such good results, why hasn’t it been adopted as best practice by medical professionals?
D’Adamo believes it’s just a matter of time. Stressing that there is “significant research” available on everything discussed in his book, he says: “Although science is starting to catch on to the idea that there is no ‘one-size fits all’ diet, I predict you’ll see a lot of changes to dietary recommendations in the next few years and a real move toward personalised nutrition programs.”
However, the British Dietetic Association (BDA) points out that weight loss, increased energy and improved health are normal benefits of any sensible eating program.
BDA spokesperson Ursula Arens says: “A lot of the blood group diet is promoting weight loss, and like many diets, it’s effective because it imposes tight rules as to what you can and can’t eat.
“Does it work – yes, but equally if I developed a diet that wasn’t based on any kind of logical science, but simply imposed tight rules, it would have the result that you lost weight.
“Being fat or being thin, and the benefits of eating meat or not eating meat etc in relation to blood groups, is not something we’ve been able to observe any real associations with.
“If you follow the diet, you will lose weight, but that isn’t scientific proof of the theory, it’s the imposition of tight rules.”
Arens points out that there are “a million diets out there” if you want to lose weight.
“The bottom line is that they work by restricting certain foods, and with that you’re restricting calories.”
She adds that when it comes to energy levels, most people say they feel better when they lose weight.

As a Natural Healthcare Practitioner, one of the most common symptoms I see is fatigue. Some people are calling fatigue a symptom of living in the 21st Century. One thing is for sure, people are becoming more and more tired.
Fatigue can interfere with your ability to perform at work, with personal relationships and can reduce enjoyment of life in general. Fatigue can be a sign of more serious problems and the underlying cause needs to be identified and resolved. Left untreated, fatigue creates a self-perpetuating downward spiral which can be very difficult to break.
Fatigue can be caused by a great variety of problems, some of which are obvious to us, while others are not so obvious and may need professional assistance to identify. Underlying problems that may contribute to your fatigue include:
In order to treat fatigue effectively and restore your energy and vitality, it is important to correct these underlying problems, and at the same time support and repair the energy producing factories, called mitochondria, within your cells.
Our body naturally produces a substance called Coenzyme Q10, referred to generally as CoQ10.
CoQ10 is vital for healthy energy production by our cells.
CoQ10 protects our energy producing factories from day to day damage and acts sort of like insulation around an electrical wire. Without this insulation, energy does not reach its correct destination, and we would have no electricity to run our lights, fridges or computers! The same is true with CoQ10, if we do not have enough to insulate our “wires” we don’t have enough energy to function properly, and we feel tired.
In our youth we usually make adequate amounts of CoQ10, but our production of CoQ10 begins to decrease from the age of 30 years. Our levels of CoQ10 can also be reduced in certain illnesses and when taking particular medications. CoQ10 is a very well researched nutrient and many studies show that supplementing with CoQ10 improves energy.
There are a wide range of CoQ10 supplements available, but unfortunately some are not as effective as others. Some CoQ10 supplements are powders and some contain synthetic forms. Both of these types of CoQ10 supplements are lacking in efficacy. CoQ10 needs to be naturally derived for the best activity, and needs to be in an appropriate oil base for optimal absorption. After all, there’s no point spending your money on a supplement that your body can’t use. CoQ10 delivered in the patented EnsorbTM base has 900% better absorption than powdered CoQ10 supplements, meaning that your body is better able to use this type of supplement and you will experience stronger and faster results.
Fatigue is a growing problem and unfortunately if you suffer with fatigue, you probably feel you don’t have the energy to do anything about it! With our advice, boosting your energy doesn’t need to be a struggle. Contact the clinic to arrange a time for us to discuss your energy needs and look forward to improved vitality

Whilst it is normal to feel like this occasionally, there are people whose lives can become engulfed by a constant dark cloud of negative feelings and low moods. These people may also find that their mood can affect their appetite, sleeping patterns and general health.
The heart breaking news is that, today, there are at least one million people in Australia that have been diagnosed with a mood disorder. The good news is that natural therapies may provide some options for you if you are struggling with low moods.
It seems that the world today is so much busier; many of us are working longer hours and not spending enough time looking after ourselves. Throw in financial problems and relationship issues and it’s easy to see how our emotions can become affected. However, did you know that other things such as our diet, being overweight, hormonal imbalances and even chronic pain can contribute to the spiral of sadness? These things can upset the delicate chemical balance within our brains, so it is essential to address these factors if you have mood problems. Fortunately, our clinic may bring you back into balance with a range of well researched management programs and nutritional and herbal medicines designed to address mood disorders, and may help to resolve any driving factors.
When it comes to helping people maintain their moods, we believe quite strongly that one shoe doesn’t fit all; this is why we manage each person individually. We use a number of well researched natural medicines that may be very effective for helping people with low moods. Here are some examples.
5-HTP is a nutrient derived from the amino acid tryptophan. SAMe is a substance that is naturally made in our bodies. These two nutrients may be useful to support normal functioning of our brain and nervous system. Both 5-HTP and SAMe may help to correct imbalances in your neurotransmitters or ‘brain chemicals’. This may help to improve anxiety, irritability and that overwhelming chocolate or sweet craving that you get when you are sad!
Pinellia, Poria and Magnolia are herbs that have been traditionally used for thousands of years to manage mood disorders. These herbs may be particularly useful if you suffer digestive upsets associated with stress such as nausea, burping or pain. They may also be good if you have excessive mucous secretion associated with stress.
St John’s Wort, another popular herb, has many beneficial actions for maintaining healthy moods. In fact, scientific studies have shown that it can help to regulate many of our ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. In doing so, it may help improve mental health. Did you know that St John’s Wort can interact with some conventional medications? As your Natural Healthcare Professional we can help determine whether St John’s Wort is suitable for your needs.
As well as Natural Medicines, it is important that we look at your diet and lifestyle. Poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle can exacerbate the effect that stress and low moods has on your body. At this clinic we have a number of dietary and exercise plans that we can advise you on to help you eat well and feel better, creating a lasting change and true wellness.
Other recommendations we could discuss to help you better manage your moods include the following:
If you, or somebody you know, is feeling down, then it is a good idea to make an appointment. This clinic may offer you real solutions to help improve your mood and overall wellbeing.

BIOMESOTHERAPY (BMT) (Biopuncture) is a new type of therapy consisting of the use of homeopathic products and the stimulation of specific points of the body with a saline solution via injection.
Most of the injections given are under the skin (subcutaneous) or in the muscles.
Certain points such as Acupuncture and trigger points are used along with specific local pain points.
Biomesotherapy is similar to Homeosinatry (Acupuncture combined with Homeopathy) and Nueraltherapy in its application however the difference lies in medicine injection points and depth of application, medicines used also differ.
Biomesotherapy stimulates what is known as the cutivisceral response. Oral homeopathic medicines are given simultaneously which focus on the organ or tissue requiring treatment.
Upon application BMT stimulates your own body’s healing mechanisms speeding up the process of injury recovery and repair.
It is very effective for PAIN MANAGEMENT and has been shown to be comparable to cortisone therapy without the added side affects. .
Biomesotherapy can complement chiropractic, physical and sports injury therapy’s or may
be used on its own depending on the type of condition.
It may be used to treat various sports injuries, muscular pain, arthritis, chronic pain, lower back pain, neck pain and other types of acute or chronic injuries.
It is especially effective in acute injury’s and has been shown to decrease the duration of some sports injury’s helping athletes resume their normal activity faster.
